Our Overview and Purpose

The Black Future Lawyers Trent University Chapter exists to increase Black representation in the legal profession by supporting, empowering, and connecting Black students who aspire to pursue legal careers.

Through mentorship, professional development, networking opportunities, law school preparation, and community-building initiatives, the Chapter seeks to reduce barriers to legal education and provide members with the resources, knowledge, and support necessary to successfully navigate the pathway to law school and the legal profession.

The Chapter is committed to fostering a strong community of future Black legal professionals while promoting academic excellence, leadership development, advocacy, and equitable access to opportunities within the legal field.

Black Future Lawyers Trent University Chapter Objectives

To increase awareness of legal careers among Black students at Trent University.

To provide mentorship opportunities with Black lawyers, judges, law students, and legal professionals.

To support members in preparing for law school admissions through LSAT preparation, application guidance, and professional development programming.

To create networking opportunities with legal professionals, law schools, and organizations across Canada.

To foster a supportive community for Black students interested in law.

To advocate for increased Black representation within legal education and the legal profession.

To facilitate participation in the annual Black Future Lawyers Conference and other professional development opportunities.

To build partnerships with legal organizations, law firms, law schools, and community groups that support Black excellence in the legal profession.
